Though the NEU has presented clear  evidence to the School Teachers’ Review Body (STRB) of the need for a fully funded, above-inflation pay rise and further funding to improve staffing levels, we all know that it is appointed by the Government and constrained by a tight remit set by Government, especially with regard to funding.

Accordingly, I have also written to Gillian Keegan, calling on her to intervene urgently to ensure that teachers in England receive a fully funded above-inflation pay rise for 2024-25, and to ensure there is further funding to provide improved levels of staffing.

So it is over to you, Gillian. Our members never take action lightly. They would always rather be in the classroom doing what they do best – teaching and supporting our children. However, as our preliminary ballot shows, they are prepared to take further industrial action. But Gillian, only if you and your Government give them no choice.

Pay and funding campaign

The NEU is actively campaigning for a fully funded, above-inflation pay rise for all educators, highlighting the pay disparity in further education.

Pay scales

Pay scales for teachers in various educational sectors across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, including part-time, sixth form colleges, and independent schools.
