Judging criteria for the representative and officers awards 2023

Nominations will be judged against the criteria listed below. Nominations do not have to address all the criteria, but the more evidence and examples you can provide, the better chance nominees have of being recognised by the judging panel.

Nominations for Executive members will not be accepted for these awards. Executive members can submit nominations for these awards, but they should not carry more weight.  Executive members should support other members, reps and local officers to submit nominations. Joint winners from different workplaces will not be permitted. 

Judging criteria for rep awards

  1. Building a stronger union
    Effective recruitment and retention, increasing member activity (particularly under- represented groups), actively contributing to the union’s current campaigns. 
  2. Winning in the workplace
    Successfully negotiating with management, bargaining for improvements/safeguarding conditions of service or working practices, and supporting members collectively. 
  3. Raising the profile of the union
    Communicating effectively with members and non-members 

Judging Criteria for officer awards

  1. Building a stronger union
    Effective recruitment and retention, increasing member activity (particularly under- represented groups), actively contributing to the union’s current campaigns. 
  2. Winning in the workplace
    Successfully negotiating with management, bargaining for improvements/safeguarding conditions of service or working practices, and supporting members collectively. 
  3. Raising the profile of the union
    Communicating effectively with members and non-members.  
  4. Supporting activists
    Identifying, developing, and supporting representatives/activists. 
  5. Making an impact locally
  6. Making a positive difference at local district/branch level.
