The NEU is shocked and appalled that yet another school has been demolished in the West Bank by the Israeli Government.
Jubbet Ad Dib, a school providing education for 81 children, was destroyed on Sunday 7 June by the Israel Defence Forces.
Such demolitions are illegal under international law and grossly violate Palestinian children’s right to education.
As an education trade union, the destruction of schools and violation of children’s rights is of profound concern to our members. The NEU has been following this case closely and has previously issued a joint statement with six other British and Irish trade unions on the issue.
The NEU reiterates previous calls for the Israeli Government to immediately cease its deplorable destruction of schools and learning centres, uphold its obligations under international law, and end its occupation of the Palestinian territories.
