The NEU condemns the murder of Colombia teacher trade unionist Stiven Chalarca, who was abducted from his school premises at gunpoint and murdered on Tuesday 12 September.
Stiven was a member of the Adida teachers’ union, affiliated to the FECODE teachers’ union federation.
The NEU sends condolences to Stiven’s family, friends and teaching colleagues and send solidarity to all teachers and trade unionists in Colombia, which remains the world’s deadliest country for trade unionists and for teachers.
The NEU supports all those working to advance peace, human rights and social justice in Colombia.
