Pay calculator

Teacher's pay calculator for rates of pay 2023-2024 for main pay range, upper pay range and leadership group salaries.

In England, the Government published the 2023 School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document (STPCD) in mid-October.  The pay figures in the STPCD reflect the 6.5% pay increase to all pay points and allowances, with slightly higher increases for M1 outside of London, and all increases backdated to 1 September 2023.  NEU members’ strike action forced the Government to improve its 2023-24 pay offer to teachers by 3 per cent, to 6.5 per cent, and to commit an extra £900 million to properly fund the teacher pay offer and protect support staff jobs.

In Wales, the Welsh Government published the separate 2023 School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions (Wales) Document (STPC(W)D) in early October.  The pay figures in the STPC(W)D reflect the 5% increase to all pay points and allowances, backdated to 1 September 2023 and following the 6.5% increase for the previous year.  The NEU pay campaign in Wales secured these increases, together with a 1.5% one-off lump-sum, which represented significant improvements on the previous pay recommendations for Wales.

With inflation still higher than teacher pay increases and against the backdrop of sustained and significant real terms cuts to teacher pay against inflation since 2010, the NEU will continue to campaign for a properly funded correction in teacher pay to reverse the real-terms cuts.  The NEU’s pay calculator shows the extent of the problem and you can use it to see how much the Government has cut from your pay in real terms against inflation.
