EPI on school accountability

Commenting on Reforming Accountability, a report from the Education Policy Institute, Daniel Kebede, general secretary of the National Education Union, said:

“We agree that school accountability is in need of urgent reform. It is essential that the Government understands how the system has worked against inclusion and made improvement harder for those schools in the most disadvantaged areas.

“There is an opportunity now, with forthcoming Government reforms to accountability, for a different approach and an inspection system that is supportive, effective and fair.  We must take the time to get change right, listening to the profession and using the evidence for change outlined in this report.”
