NEU members at Charter Schools Educational Trust secure big win

Big win at Charter Schools Educational Trust

Members overwhelmingly voted to accept a new deal and the dispute has been resolved.

Members at The Charter Schools Educational Trust have been in dispute for five months, fighting against unacceptable pay and maternity policies, and a failure to recognise the NEU in collective bargaining.

Over 300 members have taken two days of strike action across nine schools in Lambeth and Southwark.

Following a breakthrough earlier this week, the trust has agreed:

  • A pay policy which aligns with STPCD (the previous policy had no automatic progression and a six-point scale for teachers on the upper pay scale).
  • A trade union recognition agreement which has full bargaining rights and secures £15,000+ towards trade union facilities time per year for Southwark and Lambeth.
  • An increase in maternity pay, with an extra week and a half of full pay paid to both teachers and support staff, which equates to an additional £1,000 for an M6 teacher.

The deal was put to members – they overwhelmingly voted to accept and the dispute has been resolved.

When we fight, we win! Well done to all those standing up in their schools.
