*Local subscriptions and Musicians' Union joint membership

In addition to the national standard subscription rates, local districts of the NEU set and collect a local subscription from members.

Your local subscription will be between 5% and 20% of your national subscription rate.

How local subscriptions are spent will be decided at meetings of your local district and actioned by the elected officers of that group.

If you are a new member or rejoining after a 36-month absence, the local subscription fee will not be collected until the following September.

As an NEU member, you elect your local district officers, and you are encouraged to attend the meetings of your local district, where decisions such as the setting and spending of your local subscription are made.

The National Education Union and the Musicians’ Union have formed a partnership to enhance the promotion of music education in schools.

The two unions are committed to joint working to support music education. The partnership includes joint membership deals for NEU/MU members, bespoke continual professional development work and joint projects with the Music for Youth festival series.

Through this partnership, members of each union can join the other at a reduced rate.
