Did you know that around 2 million children in the UK struggle with talking and understanding words - and the numbers are rising? Without these important skills, children struggle to make friends, learn, have good mental health, and ultimately, get a job. As an educator in the early years, you play a vital role in spotting the signs that children may be struggling, and giving them the best start. This session will give you an introduction to speech and language in the early years, and help you feel equipped to make a difference with the children you work with.
At this session you will:
- Learn what speech and language challenges are (sometimes called speech, language and communication needs)
- Explore how these challenges impact children’s learning, wellbeing, and friendships
- Learn how to spot the signs that a child may be struggling with talking and understanding words
- Gain an introduction to some simple strategies to support children in your setting.
Suitable for: All working in the early years including teachers, early years practitioners and other roles
(This session will be recorded and available for 14 days. If you are unable to attend, register and receive the recording link. This will be sent the day after the webinar.)
