SEMH and behaviour in the classroom

This webinar will cover how social emotional and mental health can affect classroom behaviour and tools on how to tackle this.

This free webinar is open to all Early Career Teachers and Trainees, including non-NEU members.

According to statistics, 1 in 10 of our young people deal with some form of mental health challenge & left unchecked, could have significant negative implications for their educational attainment & life outcomes.

In this webinar, Karl C. Pupé talks about how Social Emotional & Mental Health needs manifest in the classroom & how teachers & support staff can help support these vulnerable students. The webinar will look at:

  • Childhood trauma & how this affects behaviour & learning
  • The mechanics of the nervous system & emotional dysregulation also known as ‘emotional hijacking’ & why this matters
  • The 3 common ‘fight or flight’ responses & how they manifest in your classroom
  • Practical & simple strategies to help you sooth & guide your SEMH through their education career

Suitable for: Early Career Teachers and Trainees (the content is especially useful for KS2 and older but all welcome). This session is free to NEU member and non-members.
