NEU National CPD

Reducing Barriers for LGBT+ Young Survivors

In conversation with Galop, the UK’s LGBT+ anti-abuse charity, we’ll explore the experiences of LGBT+ Young Survivors of Violence in the UK, how to recognise experiences which are often overlooked, and best practices for responding to an LGBT+ young person disclosing abuse. This workshop will be trauma informed, evidence based, and LGBT+ led.

Galop works directly with thousands of LGBT+ people who have experienced abuse and violence nationally. They specialise in supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate crime, honour-based abuse, forced marriage, so-called conversion therapies, and other forms of interpersonal abuse. They are a service run by LGBT+ people, for LGBT+ people, and the needs of our community are at the centre of their work.

This session will strengthen your understanding of :

  • LGBT+ Young Survivor Experiences
  • Recognising indicators of abuse and violence
  • Best practices in responding to a disclosure
  • Where to turn for further information and support

Suitable for all members
