How can educators tackle Islamophobia within the school community?

Join Educate Against Islamophobia for an interactive session exploring the definition, causes, and prevalence of Islamophobia across the UK. 
 

This session will cast light upon the extent of Islamophobia, manifestations of Islamophobia, as well as common Islamophobic narratives that permeate through our society. The session will conclude with an opportunity for practitioners to reflect upon a pedagogy for tackling Islamophobia. 

By the end of this session, practitioners will:

•    Be able to define Islamophobia
•    Understand why Islamophobia is a form of racism 
•    Be able to trace the origins of Islamophobia 
•    Identify the ways in which Islamophobia manifests and operates
•    Be able to identify some of the causes of Islamophobia in the U.K 
•    Begin to challenge common Islamophobic narratives 
•    Recognise the connection between PSED and Islamophobia
•    Recognise the impact of Islamophobia on students and staff 
•    Identify ways in which the school community can reduce and tackle Islamophobia through the formal and hidden curriculum.
