This innovative programme looks at the psychology of leadership, blending up-to-date research with practical activities designed to develop your confidence and leadership skills to ensure you are a catalyst for change.
The programme will help you to:
- deepen your understanding of your role in leading learning
- increase your ability to lead, manage and develop people in your team
- develop your confidence and motivation as a middle leader
- Explore leadership theories and models
- plan for your own personal leadership development
This programme is tutored and run in partnership by the Centre for Educational Leadership, Institute for Education, UCL. It runs over 6 months with 5 live online sessions and intersessional tasks. Participants carry out their own change project over the course of the programme. The facilitators are highly experienced programme leaders in educational leadership

This programme is highly subsidised by the NEU. We would expect a contribution from your employer for the fee and travel expenses to attend this programme, as well as time away from the workplace as an investment in your development.

Participants must attend all online sessions and undertake asynchronous inter-sessional tasks to complete the programme.
Who can apply
Middle leaders responsible for leading/managing a team of staff e.g. head of subject, head of year, head of faculty, head of house or cross curricular teams in any phase. This programme is also suitable for professional support staff who have been leading a team of administrators or teaching assistants for a minimum of two years.
