Behaviour, inclusion and what helps in every classroom

Most of what makes a classroom calm happens before anything goes wrong: how a lesson starts, the words we use, the noise, the movement and the waiting. Each one subconsciously tells a pupil whether this is somewhere they can settle and learn.

This session covers why feeling safe comes before good behaviour and good learning, and the small changes to language, routine and sensory support that help most.

You'll come away able to:

•  Spot what a pupil needs to feel safe, without waiting for a label or diagnosis

•  Use everyday language that calms rather than escalates

•  Build predictability and belonging into every lesson

•  Recognise and respond when behaviour is a sensory need

•  Respond in the moment when things go wrong

Suitable for all members and non-member students, trainees and ECTs.

Can’t make it? Don’t worry! If you are unable to attend, still register to receive a recording link and watch within 14 days.
