We often assume that all children and young people with ADHD will find significant challenges in approaching oracy and literacy based work. However, when we take a strength based approach and utilise strategies that work with the ADHD attentional system and not against it, we can support learners to achieve more in their literacy and oracy work.
In the session, we will:
- Consider what Variable attention and Cognitive hyperactivity are and their impact on reading, writing, speaking and listening.
- Explore Working Memory challenges in relation to literacy and oracy.
- Describe key overarching strategies in the classroom to support children and young people in literacy and oracy-based work.
