The education system in Wales is not perfect, but NEU Cymru members are clear – we need to keep a state run education system, not syphon money off to the private sector.
There are some things in Wales our members support:
- No Multi-Academy Trusts – LAs run our schools
- Foundation Phase – learning through play
- No SATs and less focus on end of year exams
- Free breakfasts for all primary aged children
- Free school meals for all primary aged children
- Social partnership – tripartite working with the unions
- Long summer holidays – we need to give everyone Wales the break they need
But the education system in Wales needs more support. Our members tell us they can’t keep doing more for less.
Our manifesto sets out NEU Cymru members’ priorities for an education system fit for the future:
- Fully-fund the education system
- Trust the workforce
- End Child Poverty
