This session offers stories and structures that help secondary teachers to introduce misogyny and masculinity as topics for discussion, to facilitate open, honest and critical conversation, to expose the assumptions, stereotypes and biases that hinder clear and compassionate thinking and to develop the skills needed to hear where others are coming from, even about the most divisive issues.
Learning outcomes:
- Why misogyny matters in education
- Contextualised examples of how misogyny arises in the classroom
- A deeper undertaking of the philosophical dimensions of these issues
- Some simple strategies and stimuli for facilitating dialogue around misogyny
Suitable for: secondary teachers (including supply and ECTs) and leaders.
