Vision impairment: practical strategies for inclusion

This session explores how we can work together to create vision-friendly learning environments and provide an inclusive, positive educational experience for learners with vision impairment. 

We’ll share simple, practical ideas for making learning more accessible, and look at how we can help learners with vision impairment develop the confidence and skills they need to thrive—both in education and in everyday life.

During the session, we will explore:

- What we mean by vision impairment

- How vision impairment can affect access to learning

- Working in partnership with vision impairment education specialists

- Creating a vision-friendly learning environment

- How small, thoughtful adjustments can make learning more inclusive

- Supporting the whole child through a holistic approach

- Helping learners prepare for key transitions

RNIB provides support to children and young people with vision impairment, their family members and professionals who work alongside them. We offer specialist information, advice and guidance, digitally and by telephone, specific to the needs of the individual. RNIB offer a range of training opportunities for professionals to meet, learn about and discuss the support of learners with vision impairment.
