Primary: How to talk about race and racism using philosophical enquiry (P4C)

Through vivid examples and personal experience, the session draws attention to important considerations such as power imbalances in the classroom and the voices not in the room. Alongside advice on how to create the conditions for constructive conversations with young children the session offers stimuli and strategies to facilitate conversations that spark curiosity and support growth in an age-appropriate way.

  • Why discussions around race and racism matter in education
  • Contextualised examples of how racism arises in the classroom
  • A deeper undertaking of the philosophical dimensions of these issues
  • Some simple strategies and stimuli for facilitating dialogue around oracy
