Nominations will be judged against the criteria listed below. Nominations do not have to address all the criteria below however the more evidence and examples you can provide of your nominee’s excellent organising practice the better their chances are of recognition by the judging panel.

Representatives

  1. Contribution towards the Union’s current campaigns.
  2. Effective recruitment and retention.
  3. Significant increase in membership activity.
  4. Improvements/safeguarding conditions of service or working practices.
  5. Raising the profile of the union.
  6. Working successfully with other unions.
  7. Supporting members individually and/or collectively.
  8. Communicating effectively with members.
  9. Success in negotiating with management.

Officers

  1. Contribution towards the union’s current campaigns.
  2. Development of effective recruitment and retention strategies.
  3. Significant increase in membership and member activity.
  4. Identifying and supporting representatives/activists.
  5. Improvement/safeguarding conditions of service or working practices.
  6. Significant impact in/on local District/Branch.
  7. Success in raising the profile of the union.
  8. Working successfully with other unions.
  9. Engaging with and encouraging activity of under-represented groups.
  10. Success in negotiating with employers and in developing policies and initiatives.
