The National Education Union (NEU) is sad that St Christopher’s School, an independent school in Canterbury, Kent, is closing and that the teachers and teaching assistants are being made redundant.

John Richardson, National Official at the National Education Union, said: “We are sad for the children, parents and staff who will be affected by the closure of the school. We have not had any official confirmation that the company, St Christopher’s School (Canterbury) Limited has been declared insolvent, but our members have been told that they have been made redundant. The NEU will ensure that our members receive all the unpaid salary and redundancy, notice and holiday pay to which are entitled and will offer maximum support as they deal with this difficult situation. If necessary, the National Education will provide legal support for any members who need it.”

St Christopher’s School was founded in 1923 and is a day school for girls and boys aged 2-11.
