Speaking about the Relationship and Sex Education Code, debated in the Senedd yesterday, Mary van den Heuvel, Senior Policy Officer for the National Education Union Cymru, said:

"NEU Cymru members will be pleased to see that the Minister, Jeremy Miles MS, has committed extra resources to help support Relationship and Sex Education (RSE). The Estyn report on peer-on-peer harassment in schools in Wales shows us there is a need to support young people to make safe and healthy choices.

NEU has produced resources with Cardiff University to empower educators to make positive choices in relationships.

"Whilst our members will be pleased to see this approach and the extra resources pledged, it is now critical that those working to support young people in the education workforce are given the time and resources needed to help ensure that sex and relationship education can help ensure young people are knowledgeable about the healthy choices available to them."
