About the event

Girls on Board is an approach to help girls between the ages of 7 and 18 navigate the often troubled waters of friendship problems. Through this online course you will learn the principles and techniques of this innovative approach.

It helps teachers, girls and their parents to understand the complexities and dynamics of girl friendships. The language, methods and ideas empower girls to solve their own friendship problems and recognises that they are usually the only ones who can. By empowering girls to find their own solutions, parents need worry less, schools can focus more on the curriculum and the girls learn more effectively – because they are happier.

Over 120 schools have adopted the approach across the UK are now supporting thousands of girls in their friendships.

This is a fully moderated online course consisting of 4 short-written assignments and 18 tasks – such as watching videos and reading think-pieces. You work through at your own pace and the course is best if you complete it within 2 weeks of starting and requires around 4 to 5 hours of study. Graduates of the course are fully-fledged Girls on Board Champions.

Girls on Board is the winner of an ISA Award for Innovation and Excellence in Pupil’s Mental Health and Wellbeing 2016 and 2019 and was shortlisted for the TES Wellbeing Initiative of the Year 2019 and 2020.
