Led by a Globe Education Practitioner this CPD day will take you through a range of practical activities and techniques to inspire and develop the teaching of Shakespeare plays to enhance classroom practice. Participants will work on active approaches to scene study, language, verse, character and themes.
It will offer a variety of creative ways to engage with language, character, themes and performance, which aims to provide students with unique opportunities to interact and engage with Shakespeare.
- Inspire and develop the teaching of Shakespeare plays to enhance classroom practice;
- Learn skills to teach Shakespeare’s plays through ways of telling the story, exploring characters and what motivates them, language and verse and the themes of the plays;
- Engage and enthuse pupils to explore the plays by removing the fear of accessing stories and language written 400 years ago.
This course will focus on Macbeth, but the techniques themselves can be applied across Shakespeare’s plays.
The course will be run during the day (lunch is included) followed by standing tickets for the evening production Macbeth at 7pm at the Globe. This production is specifically created for secondary school students as part of the Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank production at the Globe.
