Hiu Wai is currently a first-year PhD student on cranial suture evolution on archosaurs, which include birds, crocodiles, non-avian dinosaurs, and their common ancestors.

Hiu Wai's work involves programming, biotechnology, looking at fossils and their images, and working with palaeontologists and biologists. She was the teaching assistant for the online course on Dinosaur Ecosystems on EdX.
