This session will look at ways we can reframe our questioning and summative assessment techniques to take into account the fact that EAL Learners need more wait time to take part. As experienced teachers, we can forget to PLAN our questioning into our lessons, instead relying on tried and tested methods which often centre around cold calling and hands up. As a result of this, the average question is asked and answered in just 60 seconds which Beth will explain is not enough time for an EAL learner. Dive into a range of questioning techniques and feedback methods that can build in wait time, as well as ways we can assess understanding without asking direct questions.
