Using curiosity and wonder to engage learners

The world is full of wonderful and curious things. This session will show you how and why you should use them to cultivate curiosity and promote learning in your school. It will also give you an introduction to the neuroscience that lies behind curiosity and wonder.

In this upbeat and thought-provoking session, you will be introduced to a variety of items of curiosity and wonder and shown how you can use them to engage your learners. It will also explore on a simplistic level the changes they cause in the brain. 

The session will:

  • Alert you to the importance of engagement in learning
  • Demonstrate a range of easy to obtain items of Wonder
  • Suggest ways that Wonder, and curiosity can be used in a lesson
  • Outline ways a school can embrace wonder and curiosity in their day-to-day life
  • Explain learning using simplified neuroscience

Suitable for: Anyone who works with young people of any age. Wonder traverses all ages and barriers.
