Transactional Analysis in education: Working with others and stepping out of the drama

A session looking at how Transactional Analysis can help with relationships in the classroom and staffroom.

Transactional Analysis (TA) is a psychodynamic approach to understanding behaviour and communication in the relational space. The quality of our relationships in the classroom and staffroom can have a significant impact on our emotional wellbeing and our effectiveness as practitioners. This session will explore patterns of behaviour that we may experience in both the classroom and the staffroom and ways in which we can step into more effective methods of relating.

  •  An understanding of contracting in schools and the impact
  • An exploration of our experiences of unhealthy relational patterns using Karpman’s ‘Drama Triangle’
  • A consideration of methods which may help us step off the Drama Triangle (Karpman,1968) and onto the Winner’s Triangle (Choy,1990)

Suitable for: All members
