The single largest gathering of LGBT+ educators in Europe, this two-night conference aims to build a movement of LGBT+ members who will shape the future of education.

From delivering LGBT+ inclusion and Pupil Pride groups to deepening understanding of intersectional issues, participants will take part in an immersive programme of workshops, debates and networking meetings.

Participants will leave with a clear aim of how we achieve LGBT+ liberation in Education and why this union and your local district is the vehicle to achieve that through.

Conference motions and guidance

Motions are written policy, rule change and action proposals that are debated and then agreed by a vote at LGBT+ Educators Conference. They help us democratically decide what our thinking is around key issues and what action needs to be taken.

Once motions are agreed, the whole conference will agree which motion should be prioritized and sent to the NEU Annual Conference in April 2020. The motion will then be debated again at that conference and be voted upon. If agreed, it will become the policy of the NEU – gaining resources and influence to deliver its objectives.

Motions can be amended. This might be because something important was missed or it could be because people disagree about the issue and/or how to deliver around it.

Amendments close at midday on 20 November 2019.

 LGBT+ Educators Awards 2019

Last year we launched the very first LGBT+ Educators Awards to celebrate the work of NEU LGBT+ members who champion LGBT+ inclusion and equality. The awards ceremony takes place after a formal dinner on Saturday 30 November at NEU LGBT+ Conference in Blackpool.
