The event will start at 1100 on Friday 17 May and finish by 1600 on Saturday 18 May. There are places for one secretary from each NEU local district, or two places where joint secretaries undertake the role. There will also be a place for the secretary of each formally constituted branch. It is assumed all attendees will stay over on the night of Friday 17 May; we only have a small number of bedrooms booked for Thursday 16 May for those with especially long journeys. There are plenty of free car park spaces at the hotel

The meeting will include:

  • A keynote address from the joint general secretaries with Q&A
  • How to use the membership system for mapping, recruitment and retention
  • Representing and organising support staff
  • Running effective member meetings

Please note:

  • All accommodation costs will be paid centrally
  • We will be trialling a pooling of expense claims for this event; a travel and subsistence expense claim form will be issued to all delegates. Expense costs will be paid centrally then the total cost will be shared equally with the districts of all who attend (for example, if a district sends two people, they will be charged two parts of the total)
  • The next DBS meeting will be held at the Mercure, Manchester on Thursday 10 – Friday 11 October
