You will know that our summer District and Branch Secretaries meeting was scheduled to take place on 23-24 June at Hinkley Point in the East Midlands. You will also have noted that this Wednesday the RMT announced national industrial action for 21, 23 and 25 June. It is expected that rail travel disruption would be severely disrupted from 21-25 June at least and therefore severely limit attendance at our DBS which will be a critical staging post in our preparations to ballot members on pay early in the Autumn Term.

As soon as the RMT announced its strike action we contacted the Hinkley Point venue to explore whether we could reschedule our DBS and they offered to transfer our booking to a number of alternative dates later this term.

We have accordingly agreed to reschedule our summer DBS to Friday 15 July, running from 9.15am to 5.30pm. Accommodation and dinner will be available for anyone who needs it on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 July. 

If you have already registered for the 23-24 June meeting, Central Events colleagues will be in touch to confirm your attendance and accommodation needs for the 15 July meeting. If you had not already registered, please do so at your earliest opportunity HERE

Given the proximity of 15 July to the end of time, our meeting will be an even more important opportunity to share and finalise plans to build for a successful indicative ballot on pay in October. It is imperative that all districts and branches are represented at the event.
