About the delegation
Due to a couple of delegates dropping out, two places have become available on the above delegation. The delegation will include school visits, meetings with Cuban colleagues, and an immersive cultural experience.
The cost of a delegate place will be £1,995.00 which includes flights, hotel accommodation (on the basis of two people sharing) and travel. The Union nationally will contribute £1,000 per delegate. Members should either be prepared to pay the remainder of the cost themselves or seek support from their Districts (or through a combination of the two). Nominees are strongly urged to secure funding for the cost of joining the delegation prior to applying. Please note that this fee does not cover all meals.
Please note that there will be a very quick turnaround for nominations, decisions on successful nominees and on the deadline for full payment of £995.
How to apply
Nominations can only be made by districts or branches. Applications made by individuals without the approval of their district or branch will not be accepted. Please note nomination forms need to be signed by both the Secretary and Treasurer. Nominees must also submit a statement of 200 words (maximum) and include experience of international solidarity work, knowledge of the situation in Cuba and pledged activities upon return.
The deadline for receiving completed nominations is 5 pm on Friday 19 July and, if successful, nominees will need to make full payment by Friday 26 July no later than 5pm. Successful nominees will be informed by close of play on Monday 22 July (5pm) at the latest.
