Our latest safety guidance
All the latest NEU safety guidance is sent to members through our weekly email.
You can find all our Coronavirus guidance here.
We are asking NEU workplace groups to take these steps:
- Meet with members to agree any issues of concern. Raise them collectively with the employer.
- Ensure you have a bargaining framework – a meeting to discuss issues with the employer. This can be formal or informal – the important thing is an ongoing discussion between the union and your head teacher.
- Develop the agenda for your meeting with the employer based on issues of concern to members.
- If the employer will not agree to any (or enough) of your ideas, go back to members, discuss the head’s position and agree next steps.
Members may wish to demonstrate how strongly they feel by signing a letter or raising it with the governing body. If you need further support, speak to your branch or region/NEU Cymru.
Value Education, Value Education
The Covid-19 pandemic has proved just how valuable schools are to children, young people and society.
During the last year, education staff have created new ways to support learning, keep students connected and nurture those who need extra care.
It’s reminded us all how much school contributes to the lives of young people and how much rests on the professional skills of our educators.
But coronavirus has caused huge damage to children and young people’s learning and tested the current education system to the limit. Moving beyond the pandemic, things need to change.
That is why the National Education Union (NEU) has launched Value Education, Value Educators, to highlight the concerns of our members, parents and students so that, together, we can change things for the better.
Visit Value Educators to find out more about making a difference in your workplace.
