Teachers' pay update

The teachers’ online consultation: 86 per cent voted to ACCEPT the pay and funding offer, bank the progress made and end the current phase of industrial action, on a turnout of 60 per cent.

The support staff online consultation: 85 per cent voted to ACCEPT the funding offer on a turnout of 45 per cent.

Strike re-ballot of teacher members: 95 per cent of members voted YES on a turnout of 53 per cent.

Six out of seven members have voted to accept the progress embodied in the Government’s improved pay and funding offer. We will cease our strike action, for now.

We are proud of the stand teachers took in voting for industrial action, taking strike action and joining our biggest-ever demonstrations.

We are proud of the stand taken by support staff too, many of whom we know joined teacher colleagues on their picket lines.

It was your action which forced the Government to improve its pay offer to teachers by 3 per cent, to 6.5 per cent, and to stump up an extra £900 million to properly fund it and protect support staff jobs.
